“Highgate House”, Highgate Gardens, St. Michael is not only one of the most beautiful houses in Barbados but it also one of the most historically significant. In recognition of this fact it was deemed a “listed” house by the Government of Barbados in 1987. This status as a protected property has come late in life for “Highgate House”. Set on an elevated lot at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac overlooking the fantastic Carlisle Bay and offering spectacular views of the coastline is this beautiful historic property. 
While the exact date that this gem of a property was built is unknown, local historians believe it was around 1767 and was an integral part of the signal station system on the Island.
